This expansive, hot season is often fast moving, exciting and sometimes oppressive. Rapid growth is highlighted and an extroverted, warm expression of self is available to us. Long days allow us to connect with nature, go on adventures, and activate home, garden, and community projects. At the same time, Summer asks us- sometimes forcefully- to slow down and savor the luxurious, sensual laziness that is completely natural on hot and humid afternoons. A time of love, laughter, leisure, and amazing bounty, summer is an excellent time to eat raw foods, practice stellar hydration, balance activity with the art of doing nothing, and enjoy the vastly abundant produce available at your farmer's market and local grocer.
